David Lobach, MD, PhD, MS, FACMI, is a nationally recognized medical informatician specializing in clinical decision support and population health with over 25 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating applied information systems that enable innovative new approaches to health care delivery. He is currently the VP of Health Informatics Research for Elimu Informatics Inc. Dr. Lobach is also an Associate Consulting Professor on the faculty of the Duke University School of Medicine. In his 25 years of affiliation with Duke, he served for 12 years as the Chief of the Division Clinical Informatics and has been Principal Investigator or co-PI on 21 grants totaling over $20M with funding. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has contributed to the national road map for clinical decision support and to defining the meaningful use of clinical decision support through federally sponsored workshops and think tanks.
In addition, Dr. Lobach is a board-certified endocrinologist with 30 years of clinical practice experience. He currently serves as the endocrinology consultant for the Duke Family Medicine program where he sees patients in a primary care practice setting.
In terms of training, Dr. Lobach received his undergraduate degree in biology from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He also earned a PhD in immunology from the Duke University Graduate School and a master’s if degree in biomedical engineering/medical informatics from the Duke University School of Engineering.
